Role Overview
The WordPress Web Developer will play a key role in maintaining and optimizing the company’s WordPress website. This role involves close collaboration with the marketing team to build new landing pages, product pages, and improve the overall user experience across the site. The ideal candidate is highly proficient in WordPress, strong in HTML and CSS, and knowledgeable in SEO best practices, with a basic understanding of JavaScript and WooCommerce.
Key Responsibilities
Website Maintenance & Optimization
Build, edit, and maintain WordPress pages, templates, and sections.
Create and update site headers, navigation menus, and footers to ensure functionality and fast page speed.
Implement layout changes and content updates, including blog posts, product sections, and landing pages.
Front-End Development
Write clean, organized HTML and CSS for custom blocks, sections, and reusable components.
Handle light JavaScript for small interactions such as toggles, accordions, sliders, and modals.
Troubleshoot front-end issues, layout problems, and display bugs across major browsers and devices.
SEO Support
Assist with basic SEO tasks, including proper H1–H3 structure, title tags, meta descriptions, internal linking, image alt text, and file naming.
Ensure on-page SEO best practices are followed and optimize product and content pages for search engines.
Collaboration & UX
Work within existing themes, child themes, and page builders (LiveCanvas) to adjust layouts without breaking the site.
Collaborate with the team on UX improvements, focusing on clearer forms, CTAs, and better product information presentation.
Use staging environments for larger changes and assist in testing before going live.
Documentation & Updates
Document changes and maintain a log of updates and fixes for reference.
Keep accurate records of issues and solutions to streamline future development efforts.
Qualifications
Experience
2+ years of experience working with WordPress in a developer or front-end role.
Skills
Strong HTML5 and CSS3 skills, including layouts, flexbox, grid, and responsive design.
Experience working with WordPress themes, child themes, and plugins, including basic PHP edits.
Light experience with vanilla JavaScript or jQuery for small UX features.
Familiarity with basic on-page SEO best practices, including title tags, headings, schema, and image alt tags.
Experience building responsive layouts across desktop and mobile.
Ability to diagnose and fix common front-end issues such as broken layouts, spacing problems, font issues, and plugin conflicts.
Familiarity with Chrome DevTools for debugging.
Strong attention to detail and a habit of testing work before requesting review.
Excellent communication skills and comfort working with non-developers.
