We are seeking a motivated WordPress Developer Intern to gain hands-on experience building and customizing themes, plugins, and client-ready websites. The role provides exposure to professional development workflows, responsive design, and modern WordPress tooling. You will collaborate with mentors and cross-functional teams to implement solutions, optimize performance, and troubleshoot issues, while contributing to real client projects. This internship is ideal for developers eager to enhance their technical skills, learn best practices, and gain practical experience in a fast-paced, remote-first environment.

Accountabilities

  • Develop, customize, and maintain WordPress themes and plugins using PHP, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Build responsive, accessible front-ends and resolve cross-browser compatibility issues.
  • Integrate third-party tools and services such as WooCommerce, payment gateways, and REST APIs.
  • Work with page builders (Elementor/Gutenberg) to convert design mockups into production-ready pages.
  • Participate in code reviews, maintain Git branches, create pull requests, and follow CI/staging release workflows.
  • Support site performance optimization, basic SEO improvements, backups, and security hardening under guidance.
  • Learn and adopt modern WordPress tooling and development practices.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience building or customizing WordPress sites (personal projects, coursework, or freelance work accepted).
  • Solid knowledge of PHP, HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript (ES6 basics) with responsive design understanding.
  • Familiarity with MySQL, WordPress database structure, and basic WP functions/hooks/actions/filters.
  • Comfortable using Git for version control and working in staging/production environments.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and eagerness to learn.
  • Preferred: experience with WooCommerce, REST API integrations, Gutenberg blocks, Elementor, performance/SEO optimization, WP-CLI, Docker, and automated deployment pipelines.

Benefits

  • Fully remote internship with mentorship from experienced WordPress engineers.
  • Real client-facing projects to build a professional portfolio.
  • Learn deployment workflows and receive feedback through code reviews.
  • Opportunity to transition to paid or long-term roles based on performance and learning progress.
  • Flexible work schedule and collaborative remote-first environment.
