This internship offers a hands-on opportunity for a motivated web designer/developer to contribute to a growing organization while enhancing their technical and creative skills. You will support the modernization of a WordPress website, optimizing user experience, SEO, and visual design. The role involves both creative problem-solving and practical development work, allowing you to see the impact of your contributions on the organization’s digital presence. You will collaborate remotely with a small team, gain exposure to strategic website planning, and help implement improvements that enhance site functionality and performance. This position is ideal for students or recent graduates seeking real-world experience and portfolio-building projects in a flexible, part-time capacity.

Accountabilities:

  • Audit existing WordPress website, plugins, navigation, and user flow to identify improvements.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve functional, UX/UI, and performance issues.
  • Develop proposals for website refresh, including layout, navigation, user experience, and visual enhancements.
  • Implement approved updates and improvements, ensuring responsiveness and accessibility.
  • Optimize site structure, content, and metadata for SEO and site speed.
  • Assist with page design, templates, landing pages, and visual content integration.
  • Ensure website remains mobile-friendly, secure, and performant.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Web Design, Web Development, Computer Science, Digital Media, Graphic Design, or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience with WordPress and page builders (e.g., Elementor).
  • Strong understanding of SEO fundamentals and best practices.
  • Proficiency in HTML/CSS; JavaScript or PHP is a plus.
  • Knowledge of UX/UI principles and responsive design.
  • Bonus experience: Google Analytics, website accessibility, graphic design, or digital marketing tools.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently while meeting deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
