Are you an experienced Drupal developer with a passion for solving complex problems and building modern, well-architected web applications? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you!

We are seeking a senior Drupal developer for a 3-6 month contract, with strong migration expertise to support our team on a couple of high-profile projects.

About the role

As a senior Drupal developer, you will lead the technical implementation of significant website migration and redevelopment projects. You will design and implement a decoupled Drupal architecture, manage complex content migrations, and ensure the delivery of a high-performance, secure, and accessible web platform.

Your days will be spent

  • Leading the planning and migration of multiple websites to Drupal 11
  • Implementing a decoupled Drupal architecture
  • Developing robust APIs for content delivery
  • Ensuring accessibility and security compliance across the platform
  • Mentoring and guiding the development team
  • Contributing to the design and implementation of a new component library
  • Planning for scalability and future enhancements
  • Collaborating with cross-functional project teams to plan and deliver work sprints
  • Participating in our various craft initiatives through regular meets and working groups

Requirements

About you

You will be able to demonstrate: 

  • Extensive experience with enterprise Drupal, particularly Drupal 10
  • Strong expertise in planning and executing complex CMS migrations
  • Experience with decoupled architectures and developing APIs
  • Experience with implementing advanced search functionality
  • Deep understanding of web accessibility standards 
  • Knowledge of performance optimisation techniques for large-scale websites
  • Familiarity with modern front-end technologies (e.g., React, Next.js)
  • Experience with DevOps practices and cloud platforms (preferably AWS)
  • Strong project management and communication skills
  • That you can legally work in Australia

You will also bring:

  • A collaborative approach and ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Experience mentoring junior developers
  • Familiarity with government web projects and their unique requirements
  • A commitment to best practices in security and data protection
  • Enthusiasm for emerging technologies and creative problem-solving
  • Kindness, empathy and respect

You may also have:

  • Experience with other CMS platforms
  • Experience with GovCMS 
  • Experience with multilingual website implementations
  • Contributions to open-source Drupal projects

The nitty gritty 

This is a 3-6 month contract role and requires someone who is based in Naarm (Melbourne). Ideally, we are searching for someone who can start as soon as possible.
