Role Overview
As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will own complex backend features, improve system architecture, and ensure performance, scalability, and reliability. You will mentor junior engineers and contribute significantly to technical decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable, secure backend systems using Laravel.
- Own backend features end-to-end, from design to production.
- Design and optimize RESTful APIs and backend workflows.
- Architect and optimize database, caching, and performance strategies.
- Troubleshoot production issues and improve system reliability.
- Collaborate with Product and Operations teams on roadmap execution.
- Review code, mentor junior engineers, and improve engineering quality.
- Create and maintain technical documentation and architecture diagrams.
Technical Skills
- Strong expertise in PHP, Laravel, and backend best practices.
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, including MongoDB.
- Deep understanding of RESTful API design and security.
- Experience with caching, performance tuning, and scalability.
- Proficiency with Git and collaborative development workflows.
- Strong experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience as a Laravel/PHP backend developer.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
- Proven experience working on production-scale systems.
- Experience mentoring junior engineers.
Bonus / Nice-to-Have (Cloud & Platform Knowledge)
- Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
- Experience deploying and operating applications in cloud environments.
- Knowledge of Docker and container-based deployments.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and deployments.
- Familiarity with monitoring, logging, and alerting tools.
- Understanding of load balancing, autoscaling, and caching layers.
- Basic exposure to infrastructure-as-code concepts.
